2010 WPA Awards

    Benjamin Woodard (center) and Adrienne Woods (right) are presented with a first place
    award

    Western Front, a publication of Western Washington University.

    Vera Chan-Pool (left) receives one of her awards from Sheri Ward (right). Vera was
    awarded first place for an editorial in a non- daily newspaper (the North Seattle
    Herald Outlook) and second place for a general news article in a non-daily
    newspaper (the Madison Park Times).

    Mike Maltais (left) of the Methow Valley News receives a first place award from Sheri
    Ward (right). Mike's article was in the category of investigative/watchdog reporting,
    and entitled "Property and privacy rights collide over motocross track."

    Benjamin Woodard (left) receives both first and second place awards from Sheri Ward (right) for investigative/watchdog news in a student newspaper. His articles appeared
    in the Western Front, a publication of Western Washington University.

    Katherine Luck of the Journal Newspapers in Lynnwood (left) receives one of her
    awards from Marilyn Olsen (right). Katherine won both a first and second prize in the
    category of personality profiles for non- daily newspapers along with a
    second in the category of agriculture and environment.

    Jennifer Karchmer (left) receives one of her awards from Marilyn Olsen (right). Jennifer received awards for an article and accompanying photos regarding the situation of the homeless in Vancouver BC during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Jennifer is the editor of
    the Bellingham-based Whatcom Watch and maintains her own news blog.
